From experience, whether you're working with a client, business, or specific location, you may not always get the type of pistol you'd like to carry. It’s happened to me before some companies issue double-action pistols, striker-fired models, or even revolvers (yes, six-shooters still show up!).

This is exactly why I recommend all armed professionals familiarize themselves with a variety of firearm brands and action types.

Not every job hands you a “Gucci-style” high-end pistol. I’ve even seen guys turn down contracts simply because they didn’t like the issued firearm or it didn’t come with all the "whistles and bells" specific sights, custom grips, or their favorite brand.

The reality is, in private security, your gear often depends on the contract and the location. Sometimes you’re lucky to even carry a pistol there are sites where you're issued a baton and that’s it.

Adaptability and training with various platforms is key in this line of work.
